Karen & Alex's Yarra Valley Wedding

When an industry professional asks you to conduct her wedding ceremony, it’s a great honour. That was indeed the case when wedding planner and stylist Karen from One Day, Your Way and her husband-to-be Alex, asked me to compose and conduct their ceremony at the beautiful Immerse in the Yarra Valley

Karen and Alex envisaged a stylish, personalised and unique ceremony; something that reflected their romantic and sentimental natures, was enjoyable for them and their guests and was different from the norm.

Holding a bouquet of white roses, decorated with a silver charm given to her by her bridesmaids, Karen entered via the exquisite rose garden to River Flows In You by Yiruma.

After a lighthearted welcome, Alex’s close friends kept the mood happy and bright by enacting an hilarious comic strip reading.  I then shared with the guests Karen and Alex's very romantic story, noting the sentimental significance of her Alexandrite engagement ring; a stone that not only shares its name with her husband, it's also his birth stone.

We then witnessed their poetic, heartfelt and at times hilarious vows before I had the very happy task of declaring them to be husband and wife.

Karen and Alex wrote love letters to each another prior to the ceremony.  They were sealed and placed in a box, together with a bottle of pinot noir, produced from the grapes grown at Immerse. The letters and wine will remain unopened until the occasion of their 10th wedding anniversary.  Alex opened a second bottle of Immerse wine and together they shared their first drink as husband and wife.

Congratulations Karen and Alex.  Your sense of style, romance and humour shone through as much as your contagious happiness.  It was my great pleasure to conduct your ceremony.  May you always remain as happy as you were on your wedding day. x
